KWE: Hotel guest directory done right
— from KWE Partners Blog"The guest directory of Berlin’s Minilofts, an apartment hotel owned by two architects, gets my vote for one of the best I’ve ever seen….and used. Written by the hotel manager, who works part time at the English language magazine for Berlin, the 18 page guide is comprehensive and perfectly geared towards its guests, which Minilofts describes as “international guests….(with) an independent streak and a fascination with culture.”
"The directory (aka pocket concierge) begins with an introduction to the Miniloft’s staff, including resident house cat. Next is a meticulous, easy to read infographic map, our ultimate guide to the local neighborhood, detailing everything from their recommended restaurant picks and supermarkets and organic food shop to fill the fridge, the pharmacy, opening hours, public phone, and cash machine, to bicycle rental, museums, and public transport and costs, taxi information and hotel navigation essentials so guests feel at home.
"Another entire page is devoted solely to restaurant favorites within walking distance or a short taxi ride away, with descriptive observations such as “best choice for a Sunday morning” and “very weird and very Berlin” or “very hip”, etc. Last but not least, guests are also provided with two do-it-yourself walking tours (one of which is on architecture, because they are after all architects) as well as separate maps with architectural and artistic highlights of the city.
"The guide is plasticized to survive wear and tear, or be read over breakfast or coffee to avoid spills. AND it’s a great souvenir of my trip to Berlin. Thank you!"
