Fashion in Berlin has been a slow build, with the city often languishing below London, Paris and Milan. In recent years though, Berlin’s presence on the global style stage has been subject to it’s very own makeover. The bi-annual Mercedes Benz Fashion week is Berlin’s acknowledgement to high end and high concept design. But haute couture & up-and-coming ateliers are not the only ones represented in Berlin’s twice-yearly fashion and design extravaganza.

The flip side of the fashionista coin, aka Bread and Butter, happens over in the fittingly inspiring interior of the former Tempelhof airport. This street style and big branded tradeshow was recently re-homed from Barcelona to Berlin and has since settled into it’s cavernous surroundings famously, proving Berlin does do business alongside the show.

The next Bread and Butter is penned in for the 15th – 17th January and as the daily updates to the brand list testify (Adidas Originals, Barbour, Levi’s Vintage and Superdry), it promises to be one of the best yet. As a tradeshow, entrance is strictly limited to industry insiders, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying a chance to mingle with the branded and beautiful. A host of labels will be throwing Bread and Butter themed parties across Berlin in celebration of the event – and they are definitely worth getting your name on the list.
