As we have already explained in a previous post: James Turrell Cemetery chapel, it may sound a little creepy at first, but Dorotheenstädtischen cemetery is in fact a really nice place to take a break and worth a visit.

"Ca Doro" is a cozy Café hidden behind the former gravedigger's house on the famous Dorotheenstädtischer cemetery I at Chausseestraße 126. It's a nice stop, if you visit the graves from some illustrious names such as Fichte, Hegel, Schinkel, Schadow, Brecht, Seghers and Rauch.
The café is open from Friday to Monday, 1 pm to 8 pm and offers delicious homemade cakes, quiches, excellent coffee, selected teas and fine lemonades, indoor and outdoor.
The café is also the starting point for the „Dorotheenstädtischen“ cemetery guided tours.
And if the sun finally sets, one should not miss a visit to the cemetery chapel illuminated in the most beautiful colors, which was redesigned in 2015 by American light artist James Turrell.

Tickets for the light installation can be booked at evfbs.de/tickets.
Visits to the chapel (1 h) cost 10 €, 5 € for students. The tours take place on Friday (English), Saturday (German) and Monday (German) during sunset.
