Michelin star dining just round the corner from Miniloft anyone? We mentioned Weinbar Rutz a little while back on the blog, but it’s time to dedicate more space to what has been described as possibly “the most unassuming Michelin star restaurant in the world”.

Rutz is a stones throw away on Chausseestraße, with the type of façade that could make you walk past without a second thought. Venture inside though and you’ll be treated to food fittingly described as “experiences” rather than meals. Flavour combinations are inventive, seasonal and based on an exploration of simple flavours, rather than a particular cuisine or lofty culinary pretension. It’s a fantastic dining adventure, with Marco Müller’s food complemented by a list of more than 1,000 vintages.

Good if you’re feeling fancy, but if you’re in the mood for something a little less exuberant (but no less delicious) our tip is to check out the Weinbar Rutz downstairs. You’ll still get the pick of the wines, but the à la carte menu offers you more budget friendly options, with plenty of local Berlin suppliers featured on the slightly more homey menu.
