Eating in the same restaurant as Charles Chaplin or Napoleon? Yes, it is possible in Berlin. The name of the restaurant is "Zur Letzten Instanz" and it is the oldest one in the city.

We have already mentioned "Zur Letzten Instanz" in a previous post called "Where to eat traditional German food". The speciality is the Eisbein: Pork knuckle boiled or steamed for several hours, usually in sauerkraut, giving it a nice pink glow. The dish is generally served with potatoes and Berliners also eat it with pea puree.

The prices are the average prices for traditional German food, around 16 euro for a main course.

The restaurant is open since 1621, being closed during some years due to obvious reasons and reopened again after World War II. when the building had been restored true to original.

It is a cosy place in a charming area, Nikolaiviertel. We highly recommend you a visit.
