Everything is possible in Berlin! There are events for children and gown ups; for foodies and for music lovers; for party animals and for sporty people; for artists and for entrepreneurs...

No matter your religion, gender, age or nationality, you will always find an event according to your interests.

There is so much information out there on the internet that you could search forever, so we wanted to make a list of the quirkiest events happening in Berlin:

Holy Shit Shopping:

For a different kind of Berlin Christmas marketand a one-stop Christmas shopping extravaganza, head to Holy Shit Shopping.

Designers personally present their exciting lifestyle products including fashion, jewelry, furniture and product design, art, photography, literature and specialty foods. Enjoying mellow beats, drinks and street food is a great way to escape the holiday season stress.

The Hipster Cup Festival:

A very different olympics during one summer day, with games like "Skinny Jeans Tug-O-War", "Vinyl Record Spinning Contest" or "Make Your Own Ironic Hipster Mustache"

Fashion, music and Club Mate cannot be missed in this event. No matter if you are hipster or not, fun is guaranteed

Bier Yoga

Yoga is one of the most popular sports in Berlin, and also a bit hipster. If we put together Beer and Yoga, we have very successful events that take place in different bars every week or two weeks.

Running competitions in unusual places

The Berlin's Marathon is one of the most important in the world. But there are many running competitions in Berlin. Two of them, take place outside the city.

One is the Airport Night Run in April, at the controversial (still not open) Berlin Brandenburg Airport. There are two major distances which participants can choose: 10 Km and a Half Marathon. Both distances are ran over hard, paved ground. There is also the possibility to cover the 10 Km while Power Walking.

The other one takes place in November at the Tropical Island of Berlin. It is called Lauf in die Tropen and there are different distances, also for kids.

Opera outside Opera houses and Concert Halls

Opera on Tap, helps spread the love of opera by organizing phenomenal performances in non-traditional spaces at affordable prices. Originally created in Brooklyn, Berlin is one of the few cities where you can find Opera on Tap in the world.

Naked boys reading

Yes, it is exactly what it sounds. Guys, naked and reading curated texts from poems and recipes, to canonical literature or critical theory. It takes place at the Monster Ronson's Ichiban Karaoke, where you should check the dates. There is also the feminine version, "Naked girls reading", but at the moment not in Berlin.

Squat events

Dinners, brunches, movies, concerts... There is a complete calendar with cultural events related to the left wing politic ideology.

The meals are daily served for free or for a tip, they are called VolxKuche/VolxKüche (VoKu/VoKü), people's kitchen or kitchen for all, and they are normally vegetarian or vegan.

Berlin-Style Ping Pong

Berlin-style ping pong is like ping pong meets musical chairs. It would worth to check avideoto understand it better. Ping Pong is a tradition in Berlin, there are more than 700 ping pong tables in the city (there is even a pingpongmap's website). One of the most popular places for this modality of ping pong is Dr. Pong, a bar specialize in ping pong.

There is even a competition between San Francisco and Berlin, cities related through thestart up scene.

Fights for fun

Fighting yes, but with water, snowballs or pillows. These kind of flashmobs are organized just for fun, like many things in Berlin.

The Oberbaumbrücke Water Fight is held annually at the bridge Oberbaum, like its name says. It began in 1999, after the city administration decided to merge the two districts, without asking the citizens their opinion. The reaction of the neighbouring left-leaning boroughs was to fight it out.

The snowball fight is the winteralternative of the Berlin Open-Airs(parties outdoors). It doesn't happen every year, it also depends on the snow... so it's worth checking first if you are visiting Berlin in winter.

The pillow fight, this is actually aninternational event and it is held on the 2nd of April in dozens of cities. In Berlin is at Brandenburg gate (normally). You should bring your pillow and help with the clean up after the fight.
