When the sun is shining in Berlin, there is no better way to explore the city than by bike. It’s a great way to take advantage of the wide boulevards, numerous cycle lanes and cyclist-attuned drivers that make Miniloft’s home city so cycle friendly. But where to go?

We’ve devised some new cycle tours for our guests, which give you some great routes around the city, allowing you to take in some of Berlin’s best sites on two wheels.

Route 1: The East Side Gallery and the Berlin Wall

Starting off at Miniloft, you can ride through Hackescher Markt, the Rotes Rathaus before heading along the East Side Gallery, where you’ll find the restored murals that decorated a strip of the former Berlin Wall. From there, it’s down to theBadeschiff via Treptower Park, back into Kreuzberg and then past Checkpoint Charlie.

Route 2: Big Berlin Sites

A great route for ticking off plenty of Berlin’s esteemed landmarks and buildings, this route takes you through Tiergarten, giving you the chance to see the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, the Victory Column before heading into Charlottenburg to see the Art-Deco KaDeWe. From there, it’s back to Potsdamer Platz and then through Gendarmenmarkt, ending up at Bebelplatz.

Route 3: Exploring the Former East

Setting off from Miniloft, you’ll take a ride along the site of the notorious former Death Strip of the Berlin Wall, going past Mauerpark onto Prenzlauerberg. Then you’ll travel to Hohenschönhausen, to see the main prison used by the Stasi. From there, you’ll see the Soviet style architecture by Frankfurter Tor, before heading back to Mitte via Alexanderplatzand stopping at the DDR museum by the banks of the Spree.

Route 4: A Tour through Kreuzberg

From Miniloft, you’ll head south down to the Lustgarten, a square adjacent to the Berliner Dom that was a key Berlin site for rallies during the Nazi-era. Heading further down into Kreuzberg, you’ll end up riding along theLandwehrkanal, for a short trip down Maybachufer, where you’ll find the renowned Turkish marketon Tuesdays and Fridays. From there, you’ll head west towards Tempelhof, to bike down the runway before heading north through to Viktoriapark, which offers a fantastic view of Berlin from its summit. There are then options to stop off at the German Museum of Technology and the Jewish Museum, both highly recommended by the Miniloft team.
