Berlin does have its fair share of heavy hitting museums that are also suitable to take younger visitors around. From the stones-throw-from-Miniloft located Naturkundenmuseum to the Deutsches TechnikMuseum, most tastes are catered for. But the beauty of the Labyrinth Children’s Museum, up in Wedding, is in its simple interactivity, that allows younger, inquiring minds the chance to get hands on during their stay.

Housed in 100sqm of an old factory on Osloer Straße, Labyrinth opened it’s doors in 1997 and hasn’t looked back since. The museum hosts everything from workshops to free classical concerts for children. Alongside that, a range of exhibits, games, installations, puzzles and activities make sure that young visitors are occupied and learning without realizing. There’s plenty on tolerance and broadening horizons, with zones including a Kitchen of the World and a Marketplace, alongside a current exhibition “So Far Away and Yet So Near” allowing children to play their way past stereotypes of far flung countries and cultures. But beyond the philosophy, Labyrinth is a fun place for young ones to be (and their chaperones). Bring socks and slippers along, and a packed lunch and you can easily make a rainy day of it: no matter what your age.
