Yes, there are plenty of places to stop off for a coffee in Berlin. But Kaschk may make you think differently about the coffee ritual come after hours. The genius of Kaschk (a direct relative to Oslo Kaffebar) is actually based on a pretty simple premise: not everyone wants to leave the coffee bar at the end of a working day. And so, if you find yourself a short walk from Miniloft in the vicinity of Rosa Luxembourg Platz, fear not. You can get your caffeine fix during the day, pull up a chair and as if by magic, you’ll find Kaschk magically transformed into a bar come the darker hours.

There’s a great selection of craft beers on offer when Kaschk switches to bar mode, perfect for Berlin’s burgeoning craft beer scene. Local brews are given a rightful place, alongside a range of Scandinavian offerings. And of course, the star of the show is Kaschk’s shuffleboard. Once the preserve of cruise ships, Shuffleboard is a bit like curling, but on wood. Kaschk’s is apparently the first in Germany – if you want to try it for yourself, there’s no better place to give it a shuffle.
