Sometimes a coffee is there to serve a purpose and offer you a little caffeinated pick-me-up. And then there are the times where you choose pleasure over purpose. It is then that you head to The Barn. With two locations in Berlin – one in Prenzlauerberg (The Barn Roastery) and one in Miniloft’s district of Mitte – The Barn is a strong contender for Berlin’s best cup of coffee.

The Auguststraße location came first – selling plenty of added extras (delicious sandwiches and quiches) alongside some perfectly brewed espresso (and offering up several brewing methods to create that cup). Then, later last year, a second location opened up on Schönhauser Allee. Here, The Barn takes their obvious passion for coffee one step further, with The Roastery acting as a kind of showcase for directly traded beans that have been roasted in-house. It’s a stricter environment that has a hallowed feel to it, a small and slightly restrictive menu and it’s definitely one for the coffee aficionados rather than those looking for soy lattes. Savour, sip or gulp it down in one – whichever way you choose to drink it, just make sure you try it!
